Samsung Galaxy S II (S2) UK Retailer: Affordable Option

Samsung’s new Galaxy S II (S2) handset that was recently released in countries such as the UK, Hong Kong, Asia and so on is making a huge impact within the phone market. Unfortunately, at the present time, Americans are still having to wait for a concrete release date, although rumor has it that July 29th is looking hopeful. In the last 2 to 3 weeks, we have given you news about three Canadian retailers that will be stocking the Galaxy S II but under different names, depending on the carrier.

Today the news is closer to home with a UK retailer offering the popular device on a 12-month contract. Here at OSM, we have given you a roundup of where to get your Galaxy S II, but according to, have listed the “Talkmobile Smart Plan” for the Galaxy S II with an affordable monthly figure.

If you’re tempted, then the Smart Plan 400 will offer you, the customer, a total of 400 minutes, 1000 texts and 1GB of data all for a monthly figure of £30 with an initial cost of £99.99. In total, as stated, this will give an overall cost of £459.99.

Vodafone yet another UK retailer, are offering the Galaxy S II for 300 minutes, 2GB BT Openzone WiFi connectivity, 500MB with an unlimited amount of texts, this in turn will result in an overall figure of £631.

Our advice to anyone is to shop around to get the best deal. In terms of sales, the Galaxy S II has certainly outweighed its predecessor, with a sales figure of at least 3 million units in 55 days, that’s a staggering feat, and that’s without a U.S. launch. Samsung are hoping to hit the 10 million mark as soon as possible and if sales carry on as they are, this is more than achievable.

Before we leave you to ponder over the Galaxy S II and whether the contracts listed above are appealing, it may be worth taking a look at the reported Samsung Hercules handset due to arrive in August. Specs for this include a 4.5-inch Super Amoled Plus display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8MP camera and 24 HSDPA capability giving fast speeds of 42 Mbps downstream, therefore making it a pretty fast handset.
