iPhone 5 vs Samsung Hercules: Apple Should Be Worried

To date the mobile phone market has already been stirred up with talk of Apple’s new iPhone 5 on the way September time. Although there are no guarantees on its definite arrival, many sources are pointing to this time, but if the news today is anything to go by, then Apple may have a big contender on their hands in the shape of a new Samsung handset.

We know that there are some big phone names already released such as the Samsung Galaxy S II and others on the way such as Motorola’s Droid Bionic and Photon 4G, so what makes the new Samsung special?

According to ibtimes.com, the new Hercules as its called, is expected to be at the forefront of T-Mobile’s smartphone line-up, and although just speculation, it could be in the region of $350. Some may argue that its a little on the pricey side, but when you look at its spec listing, you will certainly be getting your monies worth.

So what will this little baby offer you? We can tell you that if the rumors end up having any truth in them, then the Hercules will include a 4.5-inch with Super AMOLED Plus display equalling that of the Infuse 4G, with another as ibtimes.com stated, the Motorola Droid Bionic but with a bigger resolution.

As well as this, the new Samsung will have a bigger 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor which will put it on par with the new Google Nexus 4G, but bigger than that of the Galaxy S II and HTC Sensation with its 1.2GHz or even Motorola’s new Photon with its rumored 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra-2 processor. The Hercules is also rumored to have category 24 HSDPA capability, compared to other smartphones with 21 or 14Mbps, giving it fast speeds of 42Mbps downstream, therefore making it the fastest handset out there.

In terms of camera size, the new Hercules will equal that of the Galaxy S II and possibly Droid Bionic with a 8MP rear camera with full LED flash support and Near Field Communication (NFC) which is a feature that the iPhone 5 may lack.

Its difficult to say at the moment how the iPhone 5 and Hercules will pan out, for now its just purely what ifs, but its nice to wonder! The Samsung may influence many others to steer away from the iPhone 5, with a release date of August.

Tell us what your thoughts are on the new Samsung Hercules? Would you be tempted when it launches, or has the iPhone 5 still got your vote?
