Story of Zynga’s Success: IPO Achievement Shown on Infographic

We’ve been keeping you informed with all the developments surrounding social gaming specialists Zynga recently as the company prepares for an IPO. Most known for Facebook games such as CityVille and FarmVille, we first told of its plans for an IPO, then detailed news about it being a low-float IPO and just a few days ago told how Zynga was ready to file, possibly this week. Now we have further news on Zynga, (IPO filing was announced on Friday) with the story of Zynga’s success towards IPO shown on an infographic.

It’s a fascinating look at Zynga and depicts the Zynga story from the very beginning through to the IPO. Zynga’s growth in user numbers may be pretty flat at present but that hasn’t stopped its revenues soaring and the success of the company so far is staggering considering it only launched in 2007. The infographic is highly detailed and shows aspects such as quick facts, the people behind Zynga, funding and valuation, acquisitions, app leaderboards, revenue and profitability and finally valuations throughout the IPO process with comparisons to other major tech and social media names. The infographic was brought to our attention in an article by Jolie O’Dell over on Mashable and was created by Namesake. Starting with a quick look at the company we can see it now has over 1,300 employees, and over 279 million active monthly users. Probably the most known of the people behind the company is Mark Pincus, founder and CEO, who we recently detailed was on the Forbes social networking billionaires list. Total funding from 2007 to 2010 came to $519 million and valuation has soared from $3 billion in 2009 to $5.51 billion in 2010 and is estimated between $15 and $20 billion in 2011.

Zynga has acquired 15 game studios and products in only 2 years, MyMiniLife being the first in 2009 and spent $26.8 million on those acquisitions. In the top ten Facebook apps for monthly active users, 4 Zynga games were in the top 5 positions, CityVille, FarmVille, Empires & Allies and Texas HoldEm Poker. Zynga was in the number one developer spot for monthly active users, above RootMusic and Electronic Arts.
