HTC Eternity WP7 Mango Superphone Revealed: 4.7-inch Display

The smartphone market is really heating up at the moment with the U.S waiting for the release of handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Motorola Droid Bionic. HTC have also come up with some very credible Android handsets, the HTC Sensation and the EVO 3D for example and now we’re hearing leaks of a new HTC handset for later this year. The HTC Eternity though is a Windows Phone 7 Mango handset and could just be the new WP7 superphone.

Now if you’re a fan of the 4.3-inch display on phones such as the Galaxy S2 or drool over the 4.5-inch display of the Samsung Infuse 4G, also rumored for the Droid Bionic, then you’re in for a real treat as leaked specs for the HTC Eternity reveal a mammoth 4.7-inch WVGA Super LCD screen. This sounds like a beast of a device and other leaked details include a 1.5GHz single-core processor, 8-megapixel camera with autofocus and also dual-LED flash, 720p video mode and a 1.3-megapixel front facing shooter too.

Not only that but according to Darren Murph over on Engadget, sourced from HTC Inside, there’s also a 1,650mAh battery, DNLA support, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and 16GB of storage. Pretty impressive stuff as you can see. There’s no release date or price available yet but we do know that it won’t be out until the Mango update arrives later this year, expected to be in the fall, as this will support the front-facing camera.

Over on IntoMobile, Mark Flores also talks about the HTC Eternity and reckons that the huge 4.7-inch screen may well be rather cumbersome for some, although of course some will certainly enjoy it. Flores is pretty excited about the HTC Eternity and we think many others who’ve been waiting for a standout Windows Phone 7 handset will be too. Certainly we haven’t seen a WP7 handset as powerful as this one previously and it may just be the handset that many of you have been waiting for, although of course there’s a bit longer to wait yet. The 1.5GHz processor also gets a big thumbs up as the Mango update should run exceptionally smoothly with such power behind it.

The Mango update for Windows Phone 7 has had a lot of people talking and looks pretty impressive from what we’ve seen so far, so the Eternity could just be the phone to ignite the Windows Phone platform. Are you a WP7 fan already looking forward to the arrival of the Eternity, or could nothing tempt you away from an Android handset or of course that upcoming Apple iPhone 5 iOS smartphone?
