Apple iPhone 5 Visualized: New Concepts Before Release

The Apple iPhone 5 and its release continues to keep everyone guessing and every day it seems there is more speculation. We recently posted articles about two models possibly being released in September and also about different pricing levels. Today’s news may also be speculative but it’s certainly interesting as we can see the iPhone 5 visualized as prototypes before release.

Yesterday we gave you a video of the next iPhone 5 but of course it wasn’t the real deal and was instead a clever design of the next iPhone constructed from fruit and veg. This time we have some designs, which hopefully will be more like the genuine article when it finally appears. Different designers have created two renders for the iPhone 5 and we spotted the first representation in an article by Jesus Diaz over on Gizmodo.

This iPhone 5 has been designed by Antoine Brieux and we have to say it’s a pretty beautiful looking object. It has a sharper, boxier feel than the current iPhone and shows a single part metal casing made from magnesium alloy, enveloped by gorgeously curved glass. The design would make the iPhone 5 lighter but still allow a good solid feel. The iPhone 4 appears rounder on the front and flat from the side but this one has a flat frontage and a curved profile.

Meanwhile Kevin Hall over on Dvice, sourced from Yanko Design, shows the other concept design as well as Brieux’s. The next design is by Michael Bonikowski and is very different to the first. This is probably more like the traditional design we might expect from Apple but just a natural progression. We see a beautifully slimline handset with aluminum rear and steel frame but instead of the current iPhone’s flat back there’s a slight curvature to this one, reminiscent of the iPad 2 tablet. Yanko Design tells us that Bonikowski felt that the next iPhone will be “safe and predictable” as Apple will not want to risk another version with issues as happened with “Antennagate” for the iPhone 4.

Both of these renders are pretty impressive and beautifully photographed and we have a certain fondness for the first design as it’s rather more cutting-edge, although the second design may be more likely to look like the next iPhone. You can find a complete gallery of photographs at the source links in this article so take a good look and let us know what you think. Do you prefer the styling of Brieux or Bonikowski and which one do you think will most closely resemble the real iPhone 5 when Apple finally lets us get a look at it? Let us know with your comments.
