Opulent Tag Heuer Link Smart Phone: Android Priced at $6700

Many of us have heard of TAG Heuer and associate the name with watch making but if you’re a fan of luxury devices then this time you have the option of purchasing a TAG Heuer Android phone instead. The TAG Heuer Link Smart Phone will set you back €4,700 or $6,700 and is a vision of opulence, although maybe not to everybody’s taste.

The specs don’t exactly match the luxury casing or some of the other smartphones out there but if you’re interested it has a 3.5-inch display, 5-megapixel camera, 256MB internal memory and 8GB memory card and runs on Android 2.2 Froyo. I don’t know about you but for over $6,700 (and that’s just the starting price) I’m disappointed I won’t even get 2.3 Gingerbread (in my dreams), although an update will probably come later. If you want a good look at the TAG Heuer Link Phone see the video below our story in which it’s dubbed the “first Swiss luxury smartphone.” Release will be at TAG Heuer retailers in July.

We heard of the Link Phone from Dana Wollman over on Engadget, sourced from aBlogtoRead and the casing is where the money has been spent, available in steel, 18k rose gold or titanium and trimmed with leather, alligator or other options. Droid-Life also carries a report on the TAG Heuer Link Phone and tells how this smartphone is designed to be waterproof, shock resistant and air sealed tight and also features Gorilla Glass, which considering the price tag it should do.

Tell us your thoughts on the TAG Heuer Link Phone. Have you got a spare few thousand dollars for a smartphone? Would you be tempted to such a luxury device? Let us know with your comments.
