Samsung Galaxy S2 /S II Release Extends to Japan on NTT Docomo

The Samsung Galaxy S2 or S II Android smartphone really is the phone of the moment and although it’s already seen release in some areas, other countries are still waiting. We recently gave a US release rumor roundup and also news for Canada where the Galaxy S2 is rumored to be out next month. Today we have news though that the Galaxy S2 release is now extending to Japan.

A while ago we brought launch news for those in Hong Kong and Taiwan and mentioned that Japan was also expecting a release in June and we now have news of its official launch. Jang Ji-yeong of ETNews says that Samsung held several media events to announce the release of the Galaxy S2 via NTT Docomo. As well as the usual features, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and the Android 2.3 operating system, the Japanese version also features One Seg, a local DMB service.

Apps from the Android Market, Samsung Apps and also the Docomo Market can all be downloaded for the Galaxy S2. The Chosunilbo also reports on the Japanese launch and tells us that NTTDocomo have been accepting pre-orders since June 10.
