And The Top 10 Twitter Topics This Week Are…

It’s that time of the week again where we report on the top trends that have hit Twitter within the past week courtesy of Mashable’s Matt Silverman. Last week’s top 3 saw Lil Wayne in third, MySpace in second and Father’s Day in top spot, if you missed last week’s then click here to have a look.

As for this week let’s jump straight in at number 10 with the MuchMusic Video Awards, this is an annual awards ceremony presented by a Canadian music video channel that looks back on the best videos they have screened. The queen of pop Lady GaGa took two of the awards, Best International video with Judas and Favorite International Artist. In the 9th spot this week we have Clarence Clemons, he was a saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen and he sadly passed away this week aged 69.

In 8th position is an act that’s becoming quite a regular in the top 10 trends, the Jonas Brothers. Fans were pointing out that Demi Lovarto had begun following Nick and Joe Jonas after he had hit the “unfollow” button on them previously. Flying into 7th spot this week is Chris Brown where there was a #Tag setup called “#ChrisBrownNeedsTo” with some hateful remarks coming.

Positioned in 6th in the chart we have Fried Kool-Aid which has seen Twitter sickened but at the same time amazed by the food being served at Chicken Charlie’s. They are selling 400-600 orders of deep-fried Kool-Aid. The 5th spot goes to one of the Jackass stars who also sadly met his death this week… Ryan Dunn. The world was shocked to learn of his demise with people wondering if it was a hoax, then realizing it wasn’t. Not only that but we saw some harsh comments made by Roger Ebert the potential cause being drink driving.

Hitting 4th in the chart this week is Summer/Winter Solstice with June 21st being the longest day of the year and the very first day of summer also seeing a Google Doodle for it. Creeping into 3rd spot is NBA/NBA Draft which saw several #Tags created such as #BasketballQuotes as well as Ron Artest trying to change his name to “Metta World Peace.” The draft then started trending once it had taken place.

In second place we have the most frequent trend we have seen in the past few months Soccer/Football with several players and managers trending. We saw the world’s greatest player Lionel Messi trending because it was his birthday and of course Andre Villas-Boas as he became the new manager of Chelsea FC.

Top spot this week is the same one from last week… Father’s Day. This is because many people were celebrating the day with their fathers whilst others were talking about the fathers that haven’t been there in their lives. That concludes this week’s Twitter top 10 and remember to join us again this time next week to see what happens on Twitter.
