Samsung Galaxy S2 Sales Showdown Vs Motorola Droid Bionic

We’ve written so many articles now about the Samsung Galaxy S2 (S II) and the Motorola Droid Bionic that we’ve almost lost count. Both are highly anticipated Android smartphones with the Galaxy S2 rumored to see a US release next month and the date of the Bionic release still uncertain although rumored for mid-summer. Now we have news for you of a Galaxy S2 sales showdown vs. the Motorola Droid Bionic.

Previously we’ve compared these two handsets on specs although it’s pretty difficult at the moment to keep track of the specs of the Bionic as we keep hearing of further improvements. We also looked at the significance of either of these handsets having 4G LTE capability and it seemed to appear that it would indeed be an important factor to the success of one over the other. Social media chatter is increasingly being used for gathering data for analysis and today’s infographic was compiled from a study that looked at social media mentions and opinion on these two smartphones in the time period between April 1 and June 21.

The infographic, by social media listening firm Mashwork, has been brought to our attention by Zach Epstein over on BGR and makes for interesting reading. The data was gathered from almost 15,000 users of social networks, including Facebook and Twitter and the infographic also shows basic specs for both handsets. Results show that the most anticipated phone of the two is the Galaxy S2, with 68% interested in purchasing it, 39% saying they WILL be buying the phone while the other 29% merely said they were wondering if they should purchase. You can see the infographic below this story or at the BGR link above.

Compare that to only 32% who expressed an interest in the Droid Bionic with 19% saying they WILL be buying it and the other 13% merely wondering if they should purchase. The infographic also shows that overall interest in the Droid Bionic has fallen by 11% over the same time while interest in the Galaxy S2 has gone up by exactly the same amount. Therefore the conclusion of the infographic on sales shows that the Galaxy S2 will be a clear winner. Although of course this is all based on social media mentions and opinions, it may well be pretty reflective of the amount of interest in each phone and therefore prospective sales.

What are your thoughts on this infographic and using social media chatter to gauge public interest? Are you thinking of purchasing either of these notable handsets and if so, which one? Let us know with your comments.
