Facebook Trial: Leaving Comments On Ads

Facebook are trialling another new feature on their site which involves commenting on ads.

A small amount of advertisers will invite the Facebook community to post comments on some of their ads. According to Mashable the first company to try the new feature out will be Allstate who are using the Mayhem character. The guy from their commercials will be asking, “What’s the worst thing your kid’s ever done in the car?”.

The appearance of the comment section on the ad looks the same as if you were updating a status. The next company who will try out the ad comments will be Hallmark, with their question being “How do you make summertime a special occasion?”. Facebook is introducing this to bring advertising in to social media communication.

Facebook also tested their “happening now” feature which gives real time information on what your friends are doing. Will this new feature receive the same positive response? The idea of being able to comment on ads seems good as it allows the user to directly interact with the advertiser, but will it really be used by the majority? Leave us a comment and tell us if you would like to see the feature fully introduced to the site.
