Motorola ATRIX 4G Gingerbread Update: Bootloader Fully Unlocked

The Motorola ATRIX 4G is a pretty unique device in that it has laptop style docking station that you can connect it too which is more than impressive. Now we have heard that the Motorola ATRIX 4G Gingerbread update will bring a fully unlocked bootloader which is very much so a sought after feature.

This is a bold move on the part of Motorola who will certainly benefit from allowing the bootloader to be accessed as it will encourage people who might be described as “tinkerers” to step up and purchase the phone. Perhaps Motorola has taken note of the decision that HTC made by reconsidering their policy to lock the bootloader.

This also follows a Facebook question asked by Motorola that had some pretty conclusive answers of “Unlocked Bootloader” in the top 10 answers. We learned of this through Phandroid’s Chris Chavez who couldn’t believe his eyes when he read about it! He even starts his post of with “Holy cow” which certainly made us chuckle.

This is news broke because of a leaked Chinese ROM file which was specifically aimed at their market which will undoubtedly hit the others too. Over at briefmobile.com their author has also compiled a report that shows the device being unlocked, you can view the video at the bottom of the article.

Get ready for the Motorola ATRIX 4G to take off and overtake the likes of the HTC EVO 3D and maybe even the Samsung Galaxy S II once that Tegra 2 processer gets cranked up. Keep an eye out for some astonishing benchmarks to come through in the not too distant future.
