Android Users Can Now Enjoy Hulu Plus

Hulu Plus is finally available on Android with only a small number of smartphone owners being able to access the service for the time being. Hulu are calling this “the first phase of the Android rollout”.

Mashable reports that 6 smartphones will be able to download the Hulu Plus app from the Android Market. Those are the Motorola Droid II, X and Atrix; Nexus One, Nexus S and HTC Inspire 4G. More support will be added to other US smartphones further on this year. Hulu are planning to expand their services further than America which could also see the app here in the UK and brought to more handsets.

Hulu Plus subscribers who own one of the above smartphones will be able to download the app for free, however will continue to pay the $8 a month subscription fee, PC World has reported. Considering over 16,000 TV shows are being offered on the go, that seems like a very reasonable deal to me. This will also prove another advantage over rival Netflix.

We reported to you yesterday that Yahoo were unmasked as the mystery company who launched a bid to acquire Hulu. Now that Hulu are expanding to mobile services and possibly regionally, would it be a wrong move for them to sell while they are ahead? Leave us your thoughts on this and tell us if you would still subscribe if the video service was sold on to Yahoo.
