Super Slim Sony PlayStation 3 Hits Japan: US & Europe Next?

Despite Sony’s recent problems regarding the PSN outage and being hit a couple of times by LulzSec they have still found time to develop different products. One of them is the new super slim Sony PlayStation 3 that’s hit Japan, we are wondering if the US & Europe are next.

Other devices that they have managed to get out there include the official PlayStation headset as well as delivering some good information about the PS Vita at E3 2011. We even saw a Resistance 3 bundle which OSM’s Matt Tran told us all about in his article.

The super slim PS3 that we are talking about today we learned of through Slashgear’s Chris Burns who talks about how this is the thinnest PS3 on the market and not only that it’s the “Greenest” yet. It runs with the code CECH-3000B. We are also informed of some of the specs of the device where Blu-ray movies are limited to 480i unless you are using the HDMI or video out and games don’t have that limitation.

The actual dimensions of the console are 290 x 65 x 290mm (width × height × depth) and it weighs in at only 2.6kg, you can read more about it from the Japanese PlayStation page which you will need to translate on this link. The 320GB model will set you back $436 after a conversion and it’s set to be released on June 30th in Japan.
