HP Touchpad Pre-Order Now Best Buy & Amazon: Available July 1

We’ve been giving you details and news about the HP TouchPad webOS tablet since we first heard about it back in February. HP thinks this tablet is a big rival for the Apple iPad 2 and has already thrown down the gauntlet. We also told recently about the release date for the TouchPad being July 1. Now we have some more information for you as pre-orders for the release are now available.

We also gave you price details of $499.99 for the 16GB version and $599.99 for the 32GB version. If you want a reminder of specs they’re pretty impressive. The HP TouchPad has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with a 9.7-inch XGA multitouch display. There’s also 1GB RAM, NFC capability and a 1.3-megapixel camera for video calling, although strangely enough no rear camera which may disappoint some. It’s also the first webOS tablet from HP.

News of pre-orders now being available comes to us from Zach Epstein over on BGR and we reckon the TouchPad could prove to be pretty popular so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get your orders in. Pre-orders can be placed at BestBuy and Amazon for the prices we listed above, although pre-orders are also available through other retailers. BGR seemed pretty impressed with this tablet in a hands-on experience and from what we know and have seen, this is certainly a tablet to watch.
