Sony Ericsson Xperia X10: 2.3 Gingerbread Update Live In August

The world of smartphones is turning into quite an intense war as the manufacturers are all competing for your cash. A device that’s been out for a while now is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and now we have heard that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will be live in August.

We previously added reports that it would be coming in the summer time but we couldn’t pinpoint when as well as a list of devices that would also be receiving the update. We learned of the news through an article over on Engadget by Brian Heater who says that the Gingerbread flavored OS has been on the cards since it got 2.1.

Heater also points out the Sony Ericsson has listened to the concerns of the customers and have confirmed that the new update won’t affect the UI for the camera. Some changes to functionality are inevitable and the majority of them will be good, the problem is people don’t always like change do they.

Sony Ericsson confirmed these details over on their blog with a post from Rikard Skogberg, not only that but the author was kind enough to share a video of the new OS running on a prototype device but points out that this is only the “near final software” version. Check it out at the bottom of the article.
