Motorola Droid 3 & Xoom LTE Ready to Go? Added to MAP

We recently reported a rumored release date for the Motorola Droid 3 smartphone of July 7 and know that many of you are waiting for this new handset. Today we have news that hopefully means the release of the Droid 3 and also the Motorola Xoom LTE tablet, are much closer as they have now appeared on a Verizon Wireless MAP policy.

The Motorola Xoom tablet has maybe not taken off in the way that many thought it would but of course that may all change with the 4G LTE edition on Verizon. The Droid 3 specs mean this should be in demand too and although Verizon has been pretty quiet about it, leaks reveal a 4-inch qHD display, dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel shooter, running on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. It has just been officially announced in China too, dubbed the Milestone 3.

News that the Droid 3 and Motorola Xoom LTE are now on Verizon’s MAP (minimum advertised price) list comes to us from Kellex over on Droid-Life along with a screenshot, which you can see above. The MAP listing is usually a pretty good indicator of the launch of a new product. Droid-Life also reports that it’s not clear yet whether the Xoom LTE is merely the original with an LTE radio or a newer version but it looks as though we’ll be finding out soon.

It’s also a good sign that original Xoom (without 4G) owners will soon be able to send their devices in for a hardware upgrade to LTE. If you want to read more about this then check out this article on Information Week, which tells all about the long wait for the upgrade. Are you waiting for the Droid 3 or Xoom LTE edition? What has made you choose either of these devices over other smartphones and tablets out there? Let us know with your comments.
