Michael Jackson Facebook Page Premieres Behind the Mask Video

More and more celebrities are using sites such as Twitter and Facebook for promotion and marketing, with stars such as Lady Gaga and Britney Spears being prolific users. However it now seems that even celebrities that are deceased are being represented on social media sites. Michael Jackson’s Facebook page for example has just premiered an epic crowdsourced video for ‘Behind the Mask.’

A project was launched back in March asking fans to contribute to the video by using a website to send in their dance moves, reactions and more. ‘Behind the Mask’ is from the ‘Michael’ album that came out in December and was promoted through Ping and Michael Jackson’s website. All of the clips sent in by fans were then compiled into an amazing interactive video. Literally thousands of snippets were sifted through from countries all across the world and because of the huge amount of contributions the final video took a little longer than first anticipated and features more than 1,600 fans. Director Dennis Liu of @radical.media has talked about the mammoth project and according to Brenna Ehrlich over on Mashable, says, “We’ve really been trying to push the technological boundaries of interactive music videos,” adding, “You need to view it multiple times in order to see everything. I still think that’s a really interactive experience.” The video was exclusively premiered on Jackson’s Facebook page earlier today.
