Motorola Droid 3 Launch Targeted for July 7 on Verizon

We’ve been bringing you plenty of news about the Motorola Droid 3 and recent posts have included how it first appeared on a Best Buy internal system and then more recently how it was spotted on Verizon’s device management pages. We then told how the handset looked even closer to release after price cuts for the Droid 2 Global were introduced. Now it seems that the Droid 3 launch is looming with a rumored date of July 7.

Even though Verizon is keeping unusually quiet about this Android smartphone we have heard that Gameloft is ready for the Droid 3 and has added it to a list of compatible devices according to Kellex over on Droid Life. This doesn’t prove anything by itself of course but as Droid Life points out, Gameloft would be unlikely to add the Droid 3 to their device list if they didn’t think people would be using it to download games soon.

We also hear news from sources to Droid Life that Verizon is aiming at a July 7 launch date for the Droid 3. After the disappointment of the no-show so far of the Motorola Droid Bionic there may be some who will opt instead for the Droid 3 although it is not a 4G LTE device. Leaked Droid 3 specs and features include a 4-inch qHD display, dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and also a front-facer, slideout keyboard and it could run on the Android 2.3.3 OS. Adam Mills on Gotta Be Mobile also reports on the rumored release date of July 7 for the Droid 3 so hit the link for more.
