24 Hours Le Mans Allan McNish Crash Video: YouTube Smash

Here at OSM we like to bring you the occasional news about YouTube viral videos and recent examples have been a 9-year-old dancing to Madonna’s Vogue and a Justin Bieber being blended video. Today’s video though is less light-hearted but fascinating nonetheless as we have the YouTube video of Allan McNish’s crash near the beginning of the Le Mans 24 Hours race, which has spread like wildfire.

McNish has won the Le Mans 24 Hours twice before and at the time of the crash had enjoyed a great start and was in second position. However while driving his Audi he attempted to overtake Anthony Beltoise, the back marker in the number 58 GT Pro Ferrari, and managed to clip the front of Beltoise’s car, which sent McNish careering across the track. You can take a look at the video below this story, already viewed over a quarter of a million times, to see the incredible impact of the smash as McNish slammed into the barriers and almost went over the top.

Almost unbelievably McNish managed to walk away from the crash but was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, according to BBC Sport. You can also see how close several people were to the flying debris from the incident although we understand nobody sustained any serious injuries. Another accident occurred later when another Audi driver, Mike Rockenfeller, also went into the barriers.

Take a look at the video of McNish’s crash and let us know what you think about the fact that McNish managed to walk away unaided. Send us your comments with your thoughts.
