iPad 2 Rival: Asus Eee Pad Slider Hits UK Market August

For us, the new Asus Eee Pad Slider Transformer is definitely worth feasting your eyes on. Since the Consumer Electronics Show in January, we have been looking at the tablet in more detail with specs, its release, price and comparing it to others such as the iPad 2 including how the battery faired for both.

Although coverage of the Eee has been limited, it hasn’t stopped many of you being interested, with news today from liliputing.com that the device is due to hit Europe mainly Germany and the UK during the month of August. Just two days ago we had an inkling that Germany were in line to receive it but its the UK inclusion that we wanted to keep you up to speed with.

We know that the US market is still patiently waiting, but the tech company have announced via their official Facebook page that the Eee Slider and Transformer will be available in the coming weeks with word of an official price to come at the same time.

In terms of specs, the 10.1-inch Asus will run with Android’s Honeycomb 3.0 OS, NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, 5MP rear camera and 1.2MP front and of course that all important impressive feature, that of the Qwerty keyboard which slides out giving the tablet the feeling of it being a laptop.

Let us know if you still chomping at the bit to get your hands on one of these? Is the market ready for the Asus or is there too much competition?
