Verizon Apple iPad 2 Recall: Deliveries In Transit Sent Back

News has surfaced regarding Verizon’s iPad 2 and the fact that they are in the process of being recalled by Apple. While some tablets are being sent back direct from the stores, others that are currently in transit have been diverted and returned.

According to Pocket Lint Apple have given no indication as to why these units are being recalled, though some speculation is that it could just be a bad batch. For those that have been waiting for the deliveryman this will come as a big shock and disappointment.

There is also no idea how large a scale the affected iPad recall covers, but 9 to 5 Mac has been in touch with a number of confused customers and store staff. One consumer stated, “Apple may be having problems with Verizon iPad 2. I was supposed to receive my iPad2 64gb today but all of a sudden FedEx sent it back to Apple and said that Apple requested its return.”

An employee at one of the Apple Store’s confirmed, “Apple has given all the stores a list of serial numbers to scan, if it’s a match we were told to set aside and ship back to Apple, these are only for Verizon iPads.”

This delivery intrusion from Apple has sparked massive debate amongst those on the forums, talking about what could be the problem. Some may remember that Apple previously encountered 3G connection issues with the Verizon iPad 2 a couple of months back, but these problems were said to have been dealt with. We also reported on an issue regarding a similar problem to the iPhone 4 “Death Grip” fault.

Could the same fault have reared its ugly head again, or is Apple experiencing a whole new problem? Tell us if you are one of the affected Verizon iPad 2 customers.
