Nintendo 3DS Red Flare Handheld: Release July 14

There’s been a lot of excitement from E3 2011 this week with news of Nintendo’s Wii U console and details of more Nintendo 3DS games. Today we have more news from Nintendo, this time about a Nintendo 3DS ‘Red Flare’ handheld due for release next month.

The Red Flare handheld will first be released in Japan on July 14 and there’s no news yet on whether it will be available in other regions at some point but the odds seem likely. The bright colored handheld will join in with the Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black models at a price of ¥25,000, that’s around $312, according to Amar Toor over on Engadget, sourced from GameWatch. You can also see the translated press release at the Engadget link.

A new Wii bundle will also be released in Japan on June 23 at a price of ¥20,000 ($250), with two Wii Remote plus controllers in varying colors and the Wii Sports Resort game. Ashley Jones over on n-Europe, sourced from Andriasang, also reports on the Red Flare Nintendo 3DS edition and tells us that Level-5 president Akihiro Hino, tweeted his disappointment after the Nintendo E3 press conference. Apparently Hino felt let down at the lack of 3DS color combinations, so he at least will be pleased.

What are your thoughts on the Red Flare edition and do you hope it will come to other regions? Let us know with your comments.
