Apple Shows Off Huge New UFO Like HQ In Cupertino

With Apple doing all of their big business during the worldwide developers conference earlier this week, you would think they were done with big announcements and unveils for a little while. That’s just not their style, as the very next day Steve Jobs found himself presenting the plans for his company’s funky new HQ in front of Cupertino City Council.

The massive new building is like non other as it is shaped like a UFO and has no straight glass edges what so ever. It is a unique design which Apple will be wanting to push forward as it will have the ability to hold a huge number of employees as well as keep its Cupertino location. Yahoo has reported that the “spaceship” building will be able to hold 12,000 people, with hidden parking and a canteen large enough for 3,000.

Apple acquired around 150 acres of land to build their new campus upon, which was previously owned by HP. Steve Jobs called in some of the best architects in the world to design the extraterrestrial looking design which you can see drawn above. Should Apple get the permission to build, it should be ready to move into by 2015. More detail is revealed by Steve Jobs in the video we have embedded below.

The building looks more like a sports arena than a base for the world’s leading technology creator, but that just tells you something about Apple. They want something different that no one else has, something they also try with their products. I cannot see any reason why construction would not go ahead, can you? Leave us your thoughts on the design of Apple’s future HQ. Do you like it or is it an eye sore?
