Who Needs The Nintendo Wii U, We Have The SNES SupaBoy

The last few days have been crazy in the world of technology and gaming as we are experiencing WWDC and E3 2011. As always many pairs of eyes have been on both events and E3 looks to have been possibly the most exciting so far as WWDC didn’t produce the iPhone as many had hoped but shared a lot of information about the new iOS 5.0.

E3 2011 has certainly produced the goods; Microsoft showed the audience the advanced capabilities of the Kinect which has left many of us PS3 owners wondering if we should trade our consoles for the Xbox 360. We have seen Sony naming and showing off their new handheld console the PS Vita and of course we have seen Nintendo finally revealing their new static console. But we want to ask you, who needs the Nintendo Wii U when you can have the SNES SupaBoy?!

We have reported on this device before quoting some of the old retro games that we would love to play on this funky device including the likes of The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, the original Donkey Kong Country and of course Super Mario World. This is the type of console that bridges the gap between handheld and static devices.

Realistically you cannot compare this graphically to the Nintendo Wii U as there is simply no comparison but in terms of gameplay the SNES games were highly addictive and made you not want to put that controller down. We can see this device from Hyperkin doing pretty well and thanks to Engadget we can now tell you that they have had a hands on with the device which is a development version. You can view it at the bottom of the article. The device looks to be priced at around the $80 marker, what do you think of its price?

What do you think of the device from Hyperkin? Do you want a portable SNES to play your old retro games? Let us know in the comments section below.
