As many of you will know, Apple’s iPad tablet last year, started off a succession of other devices including Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. Both have proved popular with the two companies bringing out a second version with new and improved features. Apple’s company have had a head start with their iPad 2 release although at times the tech giants have been criticized with their shipping delays. But it seems the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as its been named will finally get released today in the US.
At the beginning of this month, we brought you news that the 10-incher would hit Best Buy‘s main store at Union Square in New York City, on June 8th and we were right. So be quick if you want to pick up your brand new device today, as Engadget have reported that although the Galaxy Tab can be pre-ordered, widespread availability will not commence until June 17th.
One thing we have to mention as well, is that if you hop along to the Best Buy NYC store at midday ET, and you’re lucky enough to be one of the first 200 customers, you will be able to claim a free leather pouch to protect your smart new device.
In terms of price, the smaller 16GB WiFi model will set you back $499 with the bigger 32GB WiFi only at $599. As Engadget pointed out, if you want the speedier LTE version, then the big red Verizon will be retailing the 4G Galaxy Tab 10.1 from today at $530 for the 16GB and $630 for the 32GB on a two year contract.
