The Sims Going Social on Facebook: E3 2011 News

We’ve already been bringing you a ton of gaming news from E3 and just a few posts include the new Xbox 360 limited edition Gears of War console, a look at the Sony PS Vita and news of a Resistance 3 bundle. Now we have details of the hugely popular game The Sims, which is going social on Facebook.

Social games such as Zynga’s FarmVille and CityVille took Facebook gaming by storm and now EA is set to get in on the action with an extension to its game called The Sims Social, announced at E3. A Facebook page simply lists the game as “coming soon” and you can sign up for a Sims Social newsletter. EA has also said there will be a mobile app for the game too, according to Todd Wasserman over on Mashable.

The Sims was first introduced in 2000 and has since sold more than 140 million across the globe on various platforms. Although Zynga games now have more than 250 million monthly active users, The Sims Social will already have a huge fanbase to start with. In case you’ve never heard of The Sims the game involves creating avatars of yourself and anybody else you want to, and it’s these avatars that are The Sims. When EA purchased Playfish two years ago it was with the idea to extend EA games to social media platforms and so The Sims Social would seem a natural progression of this.

I dont really know what I think about sims being on facebook because it is a really good game like I mean really, really good, but I personlly think that it will suck to many kids on to facebook and it will make them a bit of a ciber freak in a way. but either way, I for one will be checking this game out, the only thing I want to know is when it’s coming out.
