Motorola Droid 3 Verizon Release Nears: Droid 2 Global Price Cuts

Motorola’s Droid smartphones continue to have a big presence in the market at the moment and one upcoming handset, the Droid 3 has been grabbing a lot of attention. For those of you waiting avidly for the release of the Droid 3, we have news that the release on Verizon may be closer, especially as price cuts are now being offered on the Droid 2 Global.

We have already told how Best Buy seems to be preparing for the Droid 3 release, rumored to be this month, as the phone was listed on an internal Best Buy system. More recently we told how Verizon was also getting ready for the release as the Droid 3 appeared on Verizon device management pages. Today the news of the Droid 2 Global price cut, down to $149 a drop of $50 came to us from Kellex over on Droid Life.

As Kellex points out, price cuts for Motorola products about to be replaced with newer models are commonplace and often the new versions arrive within a couple of weeks of price drops. It happened when the Droid 2 Global replaced the Droid 2, and again when the Droid X replaced the original Droid. Also it seems that Verizon listings now show “while supplies last” for the Droid 2 Global and therefore it seems pretty certain that the Droid 3 will be arriving sooner rather than later.

An article over on Gotta Be Mobile also offers a take on the cuts for the Droid 2 Global and what that means for the Droid 3 release so check that out at the link for more.
