Apple Mac OS X Lion: Official Details & Release, Your Thoughts

The Apple Worldwide Developer Conference has now got underway and news is coming in thick and fast. With some 5,200 present attendees and over 120 sessions, 100 hands on labs and 1,000 Apple engineers on hand, we can now give you updated news on Mac OS X Lion software.

According to Engadget who have been giving a live broadcast from the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the new Lion dubbed “ a major release” will come with over 250 new features, as well as multi-touch gestures, full screen apps including the biggie’s, Safari, iMovie and iPhoto. Another key factor to the new Lion OS is the new Mission Control which will bring together Spaces and Expose as well as the iOS Launchpad app launcher.

Users will now have the opportunity to leave what they are doing with peace of mind that they can come back to it at any given time, this is allowed with the benefit of the new automatic saving feature “Resume.”

As well as this, Apple announced the new “AirDrop” peer-to-peer file sharing feature as well as a new improved “Mail” version.

The new Mac OS X Lion OS will be available at the App Store in July, as just a 4GB download for $29.99 for five devices and £20.99 in the UK.
