Empires & Allies Social Strategy Game: New From Zynga

Titans of the social gaming world Zynga are set to release their latest blockbuster hopeful today, Empires & Allies. The FarmVille and CityVille creators, whose games have become major hits on Facebook, are making a diversion with this next game as it’s a combat strategy social game.

The idea of the story-driven game is to build an empire and then to protect it and just some of the options open to players are to invade others, form alliances or establish army units. There are more than 30 characters available in the story and it’s designed so that casual gamers can easily catch on. Empires & Allies is launched today (Wednesday) in 12 languages, according to Ben Parr over on Mashable. You can see a taster of the game in a video below this story.

Amer Ajami, executive producer of Empire & Allies said, “We’re focused on bringing our players a new form of entertainment and a strategy game is definitely a new playground for us.” This is very much a game of tactics and users will have to manage their resources and secure energy for example. One thing for certain is that if the game reaches anywhere near the success of CityVille and FarmVille, it’s going to be a big hit.
