Target Xbox 360 Price Drop Ahead of E3: Xbox 720 Coming

This is the perfect time for the guys at Microsoft to really stick the knife in and take a massive chunk of market share following the PSN outage. Sony has already made a pretty impressive offer of a Sony PlayStation slim 160GB with Call of Duty: Black Ops and a free First Strike download all for $299.

Now we have heard through Engadget’s Thomas Ricker that Target has the Microsoft Xbox 360 bundled with Kinect with a price drop ahead of E3, is this because the Xbox 720 is coming? Let’s just have a quick peek at what you get for the same price as the Sony PlayStation offer.

You get an Xbox 360 with a 250GB HDD, the Kinect and it looks like you get Kinect Adventures with it too… That’s a pretty impressive offer although when you click on the actual advert for it being priced at $299 you are greeted with a price tag of $399. Perhaps this is a mistake by Target or as Ricker points out maybe retailers are gearing up for a big price drop with other manufacturers trying to attract attention in the run up to E3.

We are already aware that there will be a new working console from Nintendo at E3 and we have been wondering if now is the right time for the PS4 and the Xbox 720 even though both of their predecessors still have plenty of lifecycle time.

What do you think, is Microsoft gearing up for something bigger than we know? Will we see the Xbox 720 at E3? Let us know your thoughts in the comment s section below.
