Vodafone Emporia RL1: £60 Non Fancy Phone

Here at OSM we like to do all we can to keep all of our readers up to date with all the latest news from the mobile phone world, through our constant updates we have managed to bring you information on many great handsets like the leaked Samsung SPH-D600, Pantech Vega NO.5 and the Nokia Oro.

As good as these devices are it seems that the fancier new handsets become the more chance there is of something going wrong with them, are the days of having a basic phone that only calls and texts long gone? It would appear not thanks to the latest non fancy phone offering from Vodafone, the Emporia RL1.

According to this post from Ubergizmo Vodafone are labeling this handset as “the most straightforward mobile phone in the world”, this seems fair as the RL1 will only let you make calls, text, set alarms & birthday reminders and store numbers.

With very limited features like these it’s no wonder that this handset offers a pretty decent battery life, after a full charge users can expect up to 3 hours of talk time and a massive 8 days standby. If the sound of this has got you interested in the RL1 then you can head over to Vodafone’s website here and order one for the very reasonable price of just £60.

We know this handset is not going to appeal to many of our readers but we think this would make a great gift, with its giant buttons and ease of use we think this handset could be the ideal device for any elderly relatives that have currently not stepped into the world of mobile phones.

What do you think of this handset? Would you buy it?
