Apple WWDC 2011 News: Back To School Offers & iPad Discounts

There are many of us who are enthusiastic about Apple products but they’re not known as being cheap items. However, we have news that may interest you of this year’s back to school promotion, which we hear may be announced at the Apple WWDC 2011 and will have some pretty worthwhile offers.

WWDC runs from June 6 to June 10 and there are conflicting reports about whether we’ll hear anything about an iPhone 5 although the conference is due to be mainly about software, namely iOS 5.0 and Mac OS X Lion. News of the back to school discounts being announced came to us from Jonathan S. Geller over on BGR and offers are set to include educational discounts on computers and even a free iPod touch on purchase of a Mac. Alternatively a discount of $229 could be offered for any other iPod.

News that may interest many of you though is that of a major discount on the iPad. Apparently on the purchase of a Mac there will be up to $200 discount offered on an iPad. Now that sounds like a pretty decent offer. Meanwhile Seth Weintraub over on 9to5Mac also reports on this news but makes the point that for a back to school promotion to be announced at WWDC would be a step away from the norm, although the news usually comes at around this time of year.

Either way we’ll be expecting to hear more on this year’s offers shortly and will let you know when we have confirmation. What are your thoughts on the discounted iPad? Will you be waiting to hear more about this year’s back to school promotion? Let us know with your comments.
