Will Amazon Join The Tablet Market?

With business booming in the busy tablet market, word is going round that the e-commerce giant Amazon will soon be joining in.

PC Mag has reported that the Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos hinted what everyone is thinking in an interview recently. When quizzed if Amazon would be making a tablet or not he simply replied, “watch this space” where normally such as question would be denied right away. Their Kindle e-reader is a huge success and so there is no reason why they cannot make it in the tablet industry.

Bezos did point out that if Amazon did have a tablet in the works, the reading experience would be at the centre of its design. It is possible that Amazon’s tablet could have a built in Kindle or feature various forms of integration. According to Cnet, Amazon will have released 2 tablets by the end of the year, codenamed Coyote and Hollywood.

It is being tipped that they will be low-end tablets which will come with dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 chips. Will this hardware suffice to take on the iPad and Android tablets? Not much other detail is floating around at the moment but you can bet your bottom dollar that we will see some Amazon tablets before 2012. What kind of features would you like to see introduced?
