Clickfree C2: The Most Rugged Portable HDD Ever?

When you think about the most rugged hard drives there are on the Earth which one springs to mind first? Perhaps the ioSafe HDD that can be fully submerged in water, blasted a few times with a shotgun and still come out working, or maybe you would prefer the Seagate GoFlex Satellite HDD with WiFi streaming.

One that you maybe haven’t heard of is the Clickfree C2 and this could actually be the most rugged portable HDD ever. We learned of its existence through Engadget’s Brian Heater where he reports that the phrase “built to strict U.S. military standards” is used in their press release for the device.

This doesn’t mean that it can take the same shotgun blasts as the ioSafe HDD but it has in fact been put through its own set of tests including being dropped from 4 feet. It also has 500 GB of storage available and also features the company’s Easy Run software that will start an automatic back-up.

It works on both Windows and Macs and will be priced on the Clickfree website for $140 or if you are one of the first one hundred people to have one then you will save yourself $40 and get it for $100. You can read the full details of it on this link.
