HTC Flyer Wi-Fi Model Release / Price: Exclusive Best Buy May 22

We’ve been bringing you news on the HTC Flyer tablet for some time with recent posts including some news on the European release, asking if it could challenge the Apple iPad 2, and then for the U.S., details of pre-orders becoming available at Best Buy. We have news today that the HTC Flyer Wi-Fi model has a release date of May 22 exclusive to Best Buy, so only two more days to wait.

It will be available from that date both online at BestBuy.com and at all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores. As a brief recap we’ll tell you that some of the specs and features of this 7-inch Android tablet include a 1.5 GHz single core processor and 1GB of RAM. There’s also a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facer along with HDMI-out, Bluetooth 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and the HTC Flyer also integrates HTC Sense.

The news comes to us from Todd Haselton over on BGR and you can also see the Best Buy press release at that link. Meanwhile Vlad Savov over on Engadget also brings news of this Best Buy exclusivity and notes that the HTC Flyer now shows on the Best Buy website with a price of $499.99. One snag though is that the Flyer’s stylus which has previously been included at most other retailers elsewhere is not included at Best Buy and if you want it, will set you back another $80.

What are your thoughts on the HTC Flyer? Are you heading out to grab yours on the 22nd at Best Buy and if so will you be paying extra to get the stylus? Let us know with your comments.
