This latest news comes to us courtesy of Zdnet.com via Macrumours, according to their post Ed Bott from Zdnet has been looking into the issue of Mac malware, whilst researching he uncovered some very interesting information following a conversation with an anonymous AppleCare representative. It appears that Apple have been dealing with huge volumes of calls, apparently over fifty per-cent of these calls last week were about malware.

The unnamed source goes on to say “We started getting a trickle of calls a couple weeks ago. However, this last week over 50% of our calls have been about it. In two days last week I personally took 60 calls that referred to Mac Defender”. Although there seems to be an ongoing problem with malware AppleCare’s official policies prevent their representatives from assisting with these issues.

The best advice we can give you to avoid any of these issues is to invest in some good antivirus software, if you need some advice in deciding which one is right for you check out this post from Toptenreviews.com.
