HTC Trophy on Verizon Release Date and Price Official: May 26

We’ve been bringing you news about the HTC Trophy for some months now and only last week told how although it was still unannounced for Verizon the phone appeared briefly on the Best Buy website. However we’ve now heard that today Verizon has officially announced the phone and the release date has been set for May 26.

Various leaked appearances on a Verizon roadmap and in an online catalog had led us to believe the HTC Trophy would be coming to the Big Red and a lot of people will be happy that it’s been confirmed at last. As a brief recap we’ll remind you that the HTC Trophy is a Windows Phone 7 OS handset with a 3.8-inch touch screen display, 1GHz Qualcomm processor and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture.

News of its official announcement came to us from Tim Stevens over on Engadget where you can also see the Verizon press release. The HTC Trophy will be priced at $149.99 on the usual two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. HTC touts the phone as having “the power of Xbox LIVE in your hand” so no doubt this is one to keep avid gamers happy. You can find out more about the HTC Trophy at the HTC product page here.
