Rooney Takes To Twitter For Premiership Victory Celebrations

In a dramatic weekend of football we have seen Manchester United win the Premier League, Manchester City win the FA Cup and then West Ham get relegated. It has been tears of joy and sorrow all around, and Wayne Rooney has expressed his joy on his new Twitter account.

The Man United striker only recently joined the social networking site and has caused a bit of a stir after winding up Liverpool fans for overtaking them in the league title history books. Both sides had been locked on 18 and Manchester United now have that elusive 19, to which Rooney tweeted “A scouser knocks Liverpool of there perch. Haha. An evertoniian aswell. Yes. People. U can’t imagine how happy I am tonight. Believe”.

Rooney’s actions kick started the celebrity side of Twitter alive, with fellow tweet-aholic Rio Ferdinand getting involved in the celebrations. Also joining in was Michael Owen and TV host Arsenal fan Piers Morgan, according to The Mirror. Plenty of banter was thrown around with Morgan ridiculing Owen’s contribution to United’s victory.

Owen replied: “@piersmorgan we can’t be the star in every show. I’ve had my days and I will have them again. If you understood football it would help.” This turned into a little playground scrap, as Rooney jumped in to defend his team mate by mocking Morgan’s TV show.
