LG Optimus 2X “Freezing & Rebooting” Update Patch: Affected?

In terms of what smartphone to buy, it really comes down to many factors. Firstly the make, some people we know prefer to stick with one, price, specs and of course release date. In recent months, the Verizon iPhone 4 released along with the HTC Thunderbolt. Others on their way include 3D handsets from HTC, Sharp and LG, and of course there’s the new Samsung Galaxy S II due for release in the not so distant future.

But today its news of the LG Optimus 2X which we know some of you have already got. With an impressive specs listing including that of a 1 GHz dual-core processor, the majority of you will no doubt be happy with your purchase. Unfortunately reports have come in on the other hand, of a “Black Screen of Death” which in basic terms, means that the handset has at times rebooted itself randomly, and the screen has been known to freeze. Along with this, as gadgethelpline.com reported, the handset has got a little heated when charged up.

It is difficult to say how many of you may have been affected but good news, is that LG are aware of the problems and in light of them, have issued a new patch to rectify them. In a statement from the company themselves they said, “LG is aware that a few Optimus 2X customers are occasionally experiencing random device shut off’s. While this does not affect every customer, LG regrets the inconvenience this has caused. We have determined the cause of the problem and have developed a software maintenance update to remedy this. This update can be found on our support site.”

If you head on over to the link here, you will be met with instruction as to how to go about accessing the patch.

So it just leaves us with the question of have you been affected? Was it these problems or perhaps you have another issue you want to put forward? Let us know.
