HTC Trophy Best Buy Spot: Still Unannounced by Verizon

Way back last November we first reported on the HTC Trophy, a Windows Phone 7 device that was though to be upcoming. Almost six months later the phone is still unannounced for Verizon although we brought news in February of leaked images of the phone sporting the Verizon colors and then an appearance on a leaked Verizon roadmap and also an online catalog. We now have news of the HTC Trophy appearing on the Best Buy website.

The previous leaked images led us to believe this handset would be carried by the Big Red and this new Best Buy spot backs that up pretty conclusively. Todd Haselton over on BGR, sourced from WPCentral, reports on an earlier Best Buy website appearance too, but this latest spot also has a price of $599 without contract, though you should take that with a pinch of salt as it may just be filler. Specs we provided earlier were a 3.8-inch display, 1GHz Qualcomm processor and a 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture.

In further news on the trophy it seems that Microsoft is very keen to promote this handset and informs about an exclusive Verizon HTC Trophy theme that’s free and available to download to Xbox 360 users, so we don’t think this phone can be too much further away from release. Strangely enough though, we just checked and the page seems to have been pulled but you can see what it did look like at the image above, courtesy of BGR.

Well, I have to move from my old Bb due to it being no longer supported by MS Exchange at my office; and I WANT a Windows phone, but Verizon's CEO has had his head planted so far up his butt, saying it isn't a leading edge platform, so time drags on, and still no Windows phone at big ugly red. Since I have Verizon everything else, (Fios, land line, family of wireless phones, etc) it doesn't make sense for me to switch to AT&T or Sprint to get a Windows phone. But I do wish these idiots would get with the program. I'm happy to see it coming, but unhappy it adidn't land months ago!!!
