Galaxy Tab 10.1 Rooted: Will Samsung Patch It Before Release?

At OSM we have reported various different devices being rooted such as the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and other devices being overclocked like the HTC Inspire and of course we have seen the Motorola Xoom processor running at 1.5GHz where we were asking if you would try it.

Now we have heard about another device that has been exploited, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been rooted and now we are asking, will Samsung Patch it before release? The ease in which it’s done is simply astonishing which is why we think Sammy might step in.

We first learned of this through Kevin Krause of Phandroid where he has written an article saying that it was as simple as adding some files to the Galaxy Tab’s file system and hey presto, you have been granted with Super User access all in the space of around 15 minutes which is pretty quick wouldn’t you say.

The person behind the rooting is Stephen Bird aka @_mrbirdman_ as he is known on Twitter and the files you would need to do it are on alldroid.org. At this point we want to make it clear that any exploitation of devices we wouldn’t recommend and also to use caution if you choose to proceed. As things stand we are hearing release dates of June 8th so keep your ear to the ground for the current world’s thinnest tablet PC.

Are you surprised that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been rotted already and so easily? Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments section below.
