Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 June 8 Release: Plus Hands-On

At one time we seemed to be bringing you a lot of stories about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet but just recently there’s not been so much to report. However it seems that Samsung wants to remind everybody of the impending release with a registration page now available for people interested in the Tab 10.1, due for release on June 8. We also have some details for you of a hands-on experience.

We recently gave you news of a video which showed a very decent device and as a brief specs recap we can tell you this tablet has a 1GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, and runs on the tablet-orientated operating system, Android 3.0, Honeycomb. Previous to that we had included the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in our pick of new Android tablets for 2011 and then we also told how Samsung wanted improvements to the Tab 10.1 after competition from the iPad 2.

News of the Samsung registration page for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 being up-and-running came to us from Chris Parsons over on Android Central. Following that report Phil Nickinson, also of Android Central, told of a hands-on experience with a working Galaxy Tab 10.1 while at a pre-Google I/O event in San Francisco last night and you can also see a video at the link. NIckinson points out that in comparison to the Motorola Xoom tablet the Galaxy Tab 10.1 feels lighter, slimmer and faster so things are looking pretty promising for the upcoming Samsung tablet.

Are you waiting for the release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1? What will make you choose this over other tablets such as the Apple iPad 2? Why not send us your comments to let us know.
