Amazon Tops E-Retail Satisfaction Survey – Netflix Second

Recently we reported on Amazon’s business growth and then a few days ago told how Google topped a list of the US’s most reputable companies where Amazon came eighth. However today’s news concerns Amazon once again as a survey shows the company came out top for E-Retail satisfaction, with Netflix coming second.

Netflix has proved consistent over recent years and has taken the top spot in the survey for the last 6 years but a new report from Foresee Results, the top 100 E-Retail Satisfaction Index, shows that this year Amazon just pipped Netflix to the post. The overall score for Amazon was 86 to Netflix’s 85, according to Todd Wasserman over on Mashable. The survey, based on the American Customer Satisfaction Index, measures four categories, price, content, functionality and merchandise. Netflix’s rating fell by 2 or 3 points in each category, according to Larry Freed, president and CEO of Foresee.

Freed pointed to the fact that Netflix now has much more competition from the likes of Amazon, iTunes, Hulu and others, and so those areas where Netflix once seemed ahead, are now simply expected. However Netflix doesn’t seem to be suffering too much with an 88% leap in profits for its first quarter. E-tail generally has also gained in customer satisfaction with a score of 78 out of 100 overall.

What are your thoughts on Amazon coming top of this survey and just edging out Netflix? Is it a reflection of your own customer experience? Let us know with your comments please.
