iPad 2 & White iPhone 4 China Demand: Turbulent Scenes

At the end of last week, we brought you news that the highly sought after iPad 2 and White iPhone 4 from Apple had finally reached the country of China. Long lines of people had formed including scalpers before the store had opened, a big increase it was said from last year’s iPad launch. As many of you are aware, the white iPhone 4 has only just been released even though customers have had to wait nearly a year to get their hands on one.

In order to try and keep the peace, customers were given a wristband on arriving at the store. This gave fans a chance to stay in the line in an orderly fashion or if they left, the wristband was then given back to Apple staff.

Although at that time, indications were that the operation was in fact running smoothly, the news today from Slashgear is stating otherwise. It seems the two devices were so popular that reports are that fights broke out resulting in possible riots, a window broken at the Apple store and so on. Turn of events actually got so heated that the Beijing Sanlitun store had to shut for a short time on Saturday.

With conflicting reports about what actually happened, its a job to know what to believe? But one thing’s for sure, it just goes to show how popular the two devices actually are and the lengths people will go to in order to get their desired choice(s).

Let us know the longest time you would or have waited to get your new Apple device?
