Samsung Droid Charge Release News: Update on May 9

We’ve been bringing you developments about the Samsung Droid Charge since we first heard of it under the name Stealth. If you were avidly waiting for the release of this phone you’ll know that it was due for release on April 28 and then we informed about the release delay. Today we have news that we may be hearing pretty soon of a new release date for the Samsung Droid Charge on Verizon, with an update due on May 9.

Earlier today we also gave you a review roundup of this impressive handset and most reviews had pretty positive comments to make. The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display received special praise and other specs include a 1GHz processor, 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and the Android 2.2, Froyo operating system. A lot of people were ready to go out to purchase the Droid Charge back in April but we don’t think there’s too much longer to wait.

Previously we told how Costco was expecting stocks in last week, with a specific instruction not to sell before May 3. Although the phone has still not been released a Costco notice screenshot dated for May 6 to May 9 tells of a Samsung Droid Charge launch update coming on May 9, according to Phil Nickinson over on Android Central. Hopefully then, there’s only two more days before we hear more on the release date and as Nickinson points out, the phones are already at retailers across the country, so there’s no reason why the release may not be almost immediately.

If so what has made you choose this handset above others such as the HTC Sensation, or Samsung Galaxy S II? Let us know with your comments.

Costco in Sacramento has had the charge since at least the 5th. I was there then and the verizon sales person pulled out the phone to show me. He said they have not given them any time frame of when it can be sold.

The galaxy s2 and sensation are on other carriers. Its HTC thunderbolt vs. droid charge vs lg revolution vs droid bionic vs droid x2. Thunderbolt= shitty battery life. bionic= released late summer and verizon may switch to tiered 4g plans by then. droid x2 is not 4g and has no front facing camera. no real contest.
