Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Unscathed By Security Blunder

Sony’s PSN security breach has been well publicized, with its massive invasion having a detrimental affect on the PlayStation brand. As we have reported, hackers managed to gain access to the online network and nearly 80 million users’ addresses and credit cards details.

Obviously this is bound to tarnish the PlayStation name and anything that carries the title. With this in mind Sony Ericsson, makers of the Xperia Play or PlayStation Phone as its also known which was released a couple of months back, have made it quite abundant that its portable PlayStation device has not been affected by the PSN data breach.

As Reuters reported, although there is a partnership between Sony and Sony Ericsson, their data resides on different servers. There will be the introduction of the PlayStation Suite which branches off as PlayStation’s mobile network, but that wont be until later on this year.

While some say that the impact of the PSN breach will effect the Xperia Play’s popularity, according to Electronista, others see it as an opportunity to upgrade the security on the forthcoming PlayStation Suite. So will the PlayStation brand now have to work hard to secure its popularity again with the help of two new smartphones and a Facebook link.

Before discovering these reports would you have let the security problems with the PSN affect your choice when purchasing an Xperia Play?
