Acer Iconia Tab A101: Amazon Pre-Order Page Live – Price £400

There are many tablet PCs that have graced us with their presence since Apple re-ignited the flame in the tablet PC market with the iPad. Apple dominated 2010 but there was one manufacturer that gave others hope and that was Samsung with the Galaxy Tab, they managed to achieve some decent sales even with Apple’s dominance.

Since then we have seen the iPad 2, Motorola Xoom, Notion Ink Adam and the new thinnest tablets in the world from Samsung but the one thing they all have in common is they are all quite expensive. Now we have heard about another tablet PC, the Acer Iconia tab A101 and the Amazon pre-order page has gone live with the price at £400.

Similarly we previously reported that the A100 was up for £300 and as far as we can see the only difference is the A101 has 3G connectivity. At this point you might be thinking that the competitions prices are better so lets’ just have a quick recap on what you get for your hard earned cash.

Both devices can expect to see 8GB of integrated storage, 512MB of DDR2 RAM, a Tegra250 dual-core ARM-Cortex A9 processor, Android 3.0 Honeycomb as the OS with a 7-inch multi touch screen at a resolution of 1024×600. As pointed out by Engadget’s Michael Gorman, Acer seems to think that the addition of 3G seems to warrant a £100 increase and both devices will be released on May 14th.
