Microsoft Security Alert: Phishing Attempts On Xbox 360 MW2

While Sony and the PSN is struggling with the compromise of their network and now their online PC world has been hit too, they aren’t the only ones that are hitting a bit of a bumpy patch. Of course any sort of security alert will be taken a lot more seriously by gamers and users alike because they have seen the affects of a 13-14 day downtime on the PSN.

Now there’s a Microsoft Security Alert to phishing attempts on the Xbox 360 game MW2. We learned of this through USAToday.com where their author Brett Molina has added an article warning Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players of the security breaching attempts.

The original source of the information came from the Microsoft Xbox support take under Xbox Live which you can view here. The first issue that you may experience difficulties with is searching for Web pages on Xbox.com, they say that they are aware of the problem and are working to resolve it and they apologize for any inconvenience that it may have caused, they also thank you for your patience (sounds a lot like Sony).

The second part of the problem is that users will receive a specific phishing message while playing MW2 but Microsoft seems to be onto them as they say they are working to resolve that too. It’s certainly worth being vigilant while you play and if there’s anything suspicious happening to you then maybe play a different game for a bit until these issues are resolved.
