iMac Refresh Release 2011 Apple Store Down: New Ones On Way?

We’ve been reporting on the likelihood of a new iMac 2011 release for some time and most recently noted that May 3, (today) was looking more and more likely for the refresh and it seems that we may be right. We’ve been checking and re-checking and as expected have now found the Apple Store is down.

Some of you may wonder at the significance of this so let me explain. When Apple is about to launch a new product, the Apple Store generally goes offline for a few hours and then when it comes back online….ta da….a new product appears in all its glory. Earlier today we told how Best Buy is having a huge Apple Mac sale including iMacs but advised readers to hold off buying one just yet as we felt the new iMac was imminent, so let’s hope you didn’t already buy one in store today!

The usual message when the Apple online store goes down is now showing (see above), and you can bet that when it comes back we’ll learn the details for the new iMacs, rumored to be coming with both new Sandy Bridge processors and also Thunderbolt port. We know how many of our readers are hanging out waiting for the new iMacs because of the response to our previous iMac articles on subjects such as what you want to see, and what price you would be willing to pay. Erica Sadun over on TUAW has also noted the significance of the Apple Store being offline and obviously feels the same as us about this so we’re not alone in getting ready to welcome the new Apple iMac line later today.

Are you waiting for the iMac 2011 refresh? What are you most anticipating for the new iMacs? Let us know with your comments while we wait for more news.
