There are quite a lot of happy Android users out there as they have seen many updates for their handsets (with a few exceptions) and with new devices coming through such as the HTC Sensation and other high spec devices it’s about time Android added an update.
The updates often provide bug fixes and normally a few additional features and the Android cell phones haven’t seen an upgrade in a while since the 2.3 Gingerbread OS. We have since seen 3.0 Honeycomb but it was always intended for tablet PC use. Now we have read that Google Android has confirmed the name Ice Cream Sandwich as the next OS.
We originally read the news over at Phonedog where Alex Wagner has compiled a report talking about it and saying that it was revealed in a conversation about a bug fix that ended with the Googler romain…@android.com saying that a “bug fix will be provided in Ice Cream Sandwich”.
The context in which they are talking though says that it may be the successor to 3.0 Honeycomb as the original message from “TimMesse…@googlemail.com says “When using SweepGradient on a Paint at Android 3.0 with the null argument for positions the SweepGradient only shows one color”. This certainly makes us lean towards the tablets and makes us wonder when and what the cell phones will get.
What do you think the OS for “J” will be, Jelly? Let us know your suggestions in the comments section below.
